Center Pond sets in 31 acres of glacial excavation in the little town of Nelson, New Hampshire. It is unencumbered by development, surrounded mostly by woods, with a brief shoreline exposure to a field of hay, and a modest opening for launching canoes and kayaks. It is a quiet place, like the town it occupies, and it instills calmness and perspective.
Living in Nelson provides one with a bit of resistance to conformity. This applies as much to each other as it does to the “outside” world, so while we have little ethnic diversity, there is an eclectic mix of characters and opinions that make the town an interesting place to live.
The town nurtures a creative temperament, in part by being off the beaten path, and also through the cross-pollination that occurs between the aforementioned diverse characters.
I first drove through Nelson over 30 years ago, and I knew that this is where I wanted to make my home. It has been that for over twenty-five years now.
